We believe that yoga is so much more than just movements on your mat. It is a way of being; a practice in our lives that stretches far beyond just physical movements on a mat. It is a discipline, a mentality, a philosophy to live an enlightened and fulfilled life. Sol Sessions are our version of TED Talks, where you have the opportunity to listen to engaging and inspiring speakers both in person or virtually. Join in this soul-inspiring experience!

Katie co-facilitates an online personal development course called ‘Exalted Life’. • Stephanie DeBou, now a full time Yoga and Meditation Teacher, is a former Advertising Executive and Entrepreneur of 15+ years. Her own personal Yoga journey spans a much larger time frame over decades and several countries, but it wasn't until 2017 that she finally gave up her corporate high heels, board rooms and ergonomic chairs in favour of bare feet, yoga mats and meditative cushions. Stephanie has received 500 hours of formal training in Yoga and Meditation, and hundreds more as she pursued her studies that led her into additional training.

Stephanie is an experienced yoga and meditation teacher who weaves together her varied background, personal healing journey, and knowledge of the physical, subtle and mental bodies in classes, courses and workshops that aim to heal. Her diverse blend of experiences with stillness, movement, and healing modalities all weave together in classes that are thoughtfully crafted, elegantly and compassionately delivered, and profoundly transformative.

Wednesday, April 10th, 6:00-7:15pm

  • We live in a Yang oriented culture. A culture that is oriented towards busyness, full schedules, and a sense that production equal positive growth. So what happens when we willingly (or sometimes unwillingly) step off that treadmill, and allow ourselves to simply just be? The practice of Yoga invites us not only to slow down, but ultimately, to just stop. To be still. sit still, and observe your breath. What good can come of that, you ask? Well the ancient yogis had some ideas, and having taken a big step down off the corporate ladder many years ago, I have a few thoughts as well. If your journey moving on your mat has yet to lead you to the stillness of a meditation cushion, this talk is for you. Bring your curiousity and questions, and come for the story of how a former VP of Digital Advertising found peace, clarity and fulfillment through stillness.

  • Nina is a licensed therapist, singer, business owner, yogi, wife, and mother. After a decade of working in aviation management, she left the corporate world to pursue a career in psychotherapy. Nina is currently training through the Internal Family Systems Institute and is passionate about sharing her love of this model with others. She holds a BFA in Vocal Music, an MA in Counselling Psychology, and is currently completing an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health. She is very excited to participate as a speaker in De La Sol’s Sol Sessions series!

Tuesday, April 23rd, 7:00-8:15pm

  • Although most of us are familiar with feeling torn between conflicted inner voices, we often still think of ourselves as having one singular mind. During this talk, we will explore the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, an evidence-based psychotherapy approach which proposes that we are all born with many sub-minds (parts), each with their own unique roles, desires, and functions. Consider, for example, one part of us that says, “Go for it!”, while another says, “No way!”. To protect our vulnerabilities, protective parts can take on roles that are proactive (e.g., people-pleasing, self-criticism, etc.) or reactive (e.g., emotional reactivity, substance use, etc.). During this talk, we will get curious about the multiplicity of our minds and explore the healing power of IFS parts work. Similar to yoga, which means “union” or “to yoke”, IFS centres around bringing union, balance, and harmony to the inner ecosystem.
